Cambridge Police Arrest Baltimore Man Following Multi-County Vehicle Pursuit

Cambridge, MD - On September 19, 2025, at approximately 6:39 p.m., the Cambridge Police Department received a report of a vehicle theft from the 700 block of Pine Street in Cambridge, Maryland. A Dorchester County Sheriff's Office deputy located the stolen vehicle a short time later, traveling on Race Street.


The vehicle fled when officers attempted to stop it. The pursuit began on Cedar Street and continued onto Route 50.


Officers followed the vehicle as it traveled into Talbot County and continued to Trappe, where it ran off the roadway into a field on Old Trappe Road between White Marsh Road and Backtown Road.


The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot across the field. Officers pursued the suspect with assistance from Maryland Natural Resources Police Aviation.


The subject was apprehended in the field and identified as Keshaun Jaziah Baynard, a 21-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland.


During a search of the stolen vehicle, officers discovered a Taurus handgun. Baynard was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton for medical treatment before being taken to the Cambridge Police Department for processing. He was later transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and held without bond.


Baynard faces multiple charges including stolen vehicle, theft between $1,500 and $25,000, handgun violations, obstruction, resisting arrest, and numerous traffic violations.


Additional charges include attempting to elude police by vehicle and on foot, reckless driving, negligent driving, and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.


The Cambridge Police Department acknowledged the assistance provided by the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland Natural Resources Police during the incident.
