Cambridge Police Arrest Man for Hardware Store Theft

CAMBRIDGE, MD - Cambridge Police Department officers arrested a local man on theft charges following an incident at Ace Hardware on September 15, 2025.

Officers responded to the hardware store located at 802 Woods Road at approximately 4:00 p.m. after receiving a report of theft. The suspect was located shortly after the incident as he walked past the Cambridge Police Department building.

Police identified the individual as Raymond Chappelle King, a 54-year-old Cambridge resident. During a search, officers discovered King was in possession of items stolen from the hardware store. The merchandise was returned to Ace Hardware, and King received a formal trespass notice barring him from the establishment.

King was issued a criminal citation for theft of property valued at less than $100 and was subsequently released. The investigation has been completed, and the case will proceed through the court system.
