Debbie and Randy Day Donate $1 Million to Support Children’s Area in New Wicomico Library

Salisbury, MD - Debbie and Randy Day have made a transformational $1 million gift to the Wicomico Public Library. Their contribution will support the creation of a dedicated Children's Area in the forthcoming Paul S. Sarbanes Library, currently under construction on Schumaker Pond. This donation is one of the largest individual gifts in the library's history.
"This gift is about children, families, and a better Wicomico County," stated Randy Day during the Library's Capital Campaign Kickoff and Design Reveal event held at the new library's site. The Days' contribution reflects their commitment to literacy, education, and access for families throughout the region.
The Children's Area will serve as a vibrant and engaging space designed to spark curiosity and support early learning. It aims to create a welcoming environment for young readers and their families, establishing a foundation for lifelong learning.
"We are deeply grateful to the Days for their extraordinary vision and dedication to our community," expressed Marty Neat, Chair of the Friends Foundation of Wicomico Public Library. "Their generosity has cemented the success of this campaign and ensures that this vital project will come to fruition." Neat's remarks highlighted the pivotal role the gift plays in the library's ongoing fundraising efforts.
The Paul S. Sarbanes Library will be a new state-of-the-art facility, incorporating innovative technology and resources to meet the evolving needs of Wicomico County's residents.
The library's relocation to Schumaker Pond represents a significant step forward in improving access to educational opportunities and community spaces.
