Delaware State Police Arrest Delmar Man Following Head-On Collision in Greenwood

GREENWOOD, DE - Delaware State Police have arrested a 19-year-old Delmar, Maryland man on vehicular assault and DUI charges following a serious two-vehicle crash in Greenwood, Delaware.


Jayden Waters was taken into custody after the head-on collision that occurred on September 26, 2025, at approximately 11:05 p.m. on Seashore Highway near Adamsville Road. Troopers responding to the scene detected the odor of alcohol on Waters' breath during their investigation.


The preliminary investigation determined that Waters was operating a GMC pickup truck westbound on Seashore Highway when he attempted to pass two tractor-trailers. A Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound in the opposite direction at the same time. The GMC struck the Tahoe head-on during the passing maneuver.


The crash resulted in serious injuries to two occupants of the Tahoe. The driver, a 43-year-old Georgetown man, and a 13-year-old passenger were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. A 40-year-old Georgetown woman was also hospitalized but was treated and released. Two children in the Tahoe were not injured in the collision.


Waters sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Following his release from the hospital, he was arrested and transported to Troop 5 for processing.


Waters faces multiple charges, including Vehicular Assault First Degree - Driving Under the Influence Negligent Injury, a felony charge. Additional charges include Vehicular Assault Second Degree, Driving By a Person Under 21 After Consumption of Alcohol, and Unsafe Passing on the Left.


He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released after posting a $4,501 secured bond.
