Georgetown Man Arrested for Burglary and Felony Theft

SUSSEX COUNTY, DE - Delaware State Police have arrested a 55-year-old Georgetown man in connection with a burglary and theft case targeting an elderly victim.


Louis Bland, Jr. of Georgetown faces multiple felony charges following an incident that occurred on September 9, 2025. Police responded to a residence in the 20000 block of Wilson Road at approximately 3:40 p.m. after receiving a burglary report.


The investigation revealed that an unknown suspect had entered the home of a 67-year-old man while the victim was sleeping earlier that day. The suspect stole the victim's wallet during the break-in.


Detectives discovered that the victim's credit card was used at a local convenience store on the same day as the burglary. Through investigative methods, troopers identified Bland as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.


Bland was taken into custody on September 18, 2025, by the Millsboro Police Department during an unrelated incident. State Police then filed charges against him for the Georgetown burglary case.


Following his arrest, Bland appeared before Justice of the Peace Court 2 for arraignment. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $26,000 cash bond.


The charges against Bland include Burglary 1st Degree - Occupied Dwelling, two counts of Theft Under $1,500 Where the Victim is 62 Years or Older, and Unlawful Use of Payment Card Under $1,500 Unauthorized Use of Card Where the Victim is 62 Years or Older. All charges are classified as felonies.
