Kitchen Fire Displaces Family of Four and Claims the Life of a Family Pet

DENTON, MD - A fire that started in the kitchen of a Denton, Maryland townhome on Friday morning has displaced four residents and claimed the life of a beloved family pet.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m. on September 26, 2025, in the 300 block of High Street in Caroline County, Maryland. A neighbor discovered the fire and alerted authorities.
The Denton Volunteer Fire Company was the primary responding department, with a total of 15 firefighters at the scene.
Smoke alarms were present and had activated inside the single-family dwelling.
Investigators have determined the preliminary cause to be an electrical event near the microwave in the kitchen. The estimated loss is valued at $90,000 for the structure and $30,000 for its contents.
The family pet, a dog, was found deceased at the scene. The four displaced occupants are being assisted by friends and family.
