Man Arrested on Firearm and Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

EASTON, MD - Maryland State Police have arrested a Wicomico County man following a traffic stop in Talbot County on Saturday evening. The stop resulted in the recovery of two loaded firearms and suspected illicit drugs.


The individual is identified as William Stephen Lanham, Jr., 40, of Salisbury, Maryland. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.


Lanham also received several traffic citations for offenses such as suspected driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.


The incident occurred at approximately 8:01 p.m. on September 20, when a trooper from the Easton Barrack initiated a traffic stop on a Chevrolet pickup truck. The stop was conducted on U.S. Route 50 near Lomax Street for suspected impaired driving.


During the interaction, the trooper observed indicators that led to a search of the vehicle. The search resulted in the discovery of two loaded firearms, along with suspected methadone and Xanax.


Lanham was taken into custody at the scene without incident. He was then transported to the Talbot County Department of Corrections, where he is currently being held without bond.
