Salisbury Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting in Wicomico County

Salisbury, MD - An 18-year-old Salisbury resident has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday evening, according to the Maryland State Police.  


The suspect, identified as Jonathan Leross Jobe, is facing multiple charges, including first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and additional firearm-related offenses.


Jobe is currently being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center on an unrelated arrest warrant, authorities said.  


The victim has been identified as Dajaud Rae'heim Townsend, 24, of Salisbury, Maryland. Townsend was discovered by authorities with an apparent gunshot wound in the backyard of a residence located on the 600 block of Smith Street. Emergency medical services pronounced him deceased while en route to the hospital.  


The incident occurred around 5:35 p.m. on July 15, following reports of gunshots in the area. Officers from the Salisbury Police Department were dispatched to the scene, where they located the injured victim.  


The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation, identifying Jobe as the primary suspect. Agencies involved in the investigation include the Salisbury Police Department, the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, and the Maryland State Police Aviation Command, which provided additional support.
