Salisbury Man Convicted in Wicomico County for July 4th Shooting that left One Person Dead and Seven Others Injured

Wicomico County, MD - On July 21, 2025, 28-year-old Antravon Harmon of Salisbury, Maryland, was convicted in Wicomico County Circuit Court on eight counts of First-Degree Assault, eight counts of Firearm Use in a Crime of Violence, and multiple related offenses.
The verdict came following a five-day jury trial overseen by Associate Judge M. Maciarello. Sentencing has been postponed pending the completion of a pre-sentence investigation. Harmon remains in custody while awaiting sentencing.
The charges stem from a shooting incident that occurred during the late evening hours of July 4, 2023, at a neighborhood celebration on Chippewa Blvd and Kiowa Avenue in Salisbury, Maryland.
Shortly after midnight, Harmon and an associate armed themselves with handguns and approached a group on Chippewa Boulevard. According to the report, Harmon and his associate discharged their firearms into the crowd, resulting in a chaotic exchange of gunfire.
The incident led to the death of Xavier Maddox and injuries to seven additional individuals, who sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Wicomico County State's Attorney Jamie L. Dykes stated, "Senseless acts of violence will not be tolerated in Wicomico County. As a result of his violence, Antravon Harmon now faces up to 378 years of incarceration, including a mandatory minimum of 45 years. This conviction reflects our unwavering commitment to holding violent offenders accountable and protecting our community."
State's Attorney Dykes commended the efforts of the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, the Salisbury Police Department, and the Maryland State Police for their swift response and collaboration in this investigation.
Special recognition was given to Detective Kirkpatrick of the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office for her diligence in leading the investigation.
Additionally, Deputy State's Attorney Scott Messersmith was acknowledged for his rigorous prosecution of the case.
