Talbot County Sheriff's Office Personnel Recognized at Annual Maryland Law Enforcement Training Seminar

Talbot County, MD - Senior members of the Talbot County Sheriff's Office attended the Maryland Chief's Association and Maryland Sheriff's Association Professional Development Training Seminar in Ocean City, MD from September 7-11, 2025.
The annual event recognizes outstanding police officers statewide and provides training for future law enforcement leaders.
DFC Derek Scrivener of the Talbot County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division received the Maryland Sheriffs' Association Deputy of the Year Award for Traffic Safety (Small Agency). Sheriff Joe Gamble and members of the Sheriff's Office Command Staff attended the recognition ceremony.
Scrivener joined the Sheriff's Office in 2022 and led the agency in traffic enforcement during 2024. His record included 1,104 traffic stops, 464 citations, 1,293 warnings, and 15 DUI/DWI arrests. He also completed 30 crash investigations and 74 directed traffic assignments.
His work with TCSO K-9 Units resulted in multiple drug interdictions, narcotics arrests, and seizures. The Maryland Highway Safety Office awarded him the Traffic Safety Specialist I designation in April 2025.
DFC John Coleman performed at the opening ceremonies of the event. Coleman has been requested to sing at numerous events since joining the Talbot County Sheriff's Office in 2017. Sheriff Gamble expressed his enthusiasm for sharing Coleman's vocal talents at these occasions.
1/Sgt. Justin Aita, Assistant Commander of the Patrol Division, was selected for the Maryland Sheriff's Association Aspiring Leaders Program. The training program prepares current law enforcement leaders for executive-level positions through leadership strategies and core principles instruction. The program identifies and develops the next generation of leaders within Maryland's law enforcement community.
Sheriff Gamble participated in the Desiree Holland Memorial Chiefs & Sheriff's Boardwalk Plunge, which raises funds for Special Olympics. The event honors Desiree Holland, daughter of past Maryland Chief's Association President Doug Holland and his wife Candy.
Desiree was an accomplished Special Olympics Maryland athlete who earned gold medals in international competitions in Shanghai, China and the USA National Games.
Sheriff Gamble stated his pride in the accomplishments of the Talbot County Sheriff's Office personnel and expressed optimism about the organization's future.
