Two Men Arrested After Gunfire Strikes Occupied Home in Milford

MILFORD, DE - Delaware State Police have arrested two men following a shooting that resulted in gunfire striking an occupied residence in Milford, Delaware. The arrests occurred after an investigation into reckless endangering that took place on September 23, 2025.


David Waddington, 34, of Milford, Delaware, and Roger Spurbeck, 71, of New Holland, Pennsylvania, were taken into custody on charges of reckless endangering and related offenses. The incident occurred at approximately 7:48 p.m. when troopers responded to a report in the 20000 block of Cedar Beach Road in Milford, Delaware.


Upon arrival, investigators determined that a residence occupied by two adults had been struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported in the incident.


The investigation revealed that Waddington and Spurbeck were shooting in the backyard of a nearby residence when their gunfire struck the occupied home.


Both suspects were arrested without incident and transported to Troop 7 for processing. Each defendant faces identical charges and was released on a $76,000 unsecured bond following arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 7.


The charges against both men include two counts of Reckless Endangering in the First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Criminal Mischief valued at $5,000 or more, and Conspiracy in the Second Degree. All charges are classified as felonies.

The Delaware State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
